the Arts for the Future Scholarship Fund

The Arts for the Future Scholarship Fund is a community-wide initiative designed to promote artistic career opportunities for graduating high school students. Since inception ten years ago, approximately $650,000 has been distributed to over 650 high school graduates.

Eligibility:
Every Broward County Public high and technical school is invited to select graduating seniors who are outstanding in the arts including: theatre, dance, music, visual arts and technical arts (e.g. lighting, sound, set design).

Specific materials needed for submission for each of the below categories are listed on the application.

•    Visual Arts
•    Theatre
•    Dance
•    Music
•    Technical Arts (e.g. lighting, sound, etc.)

Applicants must submit an original application and 3 copies.

Award: $1,000 - $2,000  The Fund's goal is to award at least one $1,000 scholarship to each high school and center. There are two scholarship categories: General Benefactor, and Fort Lauderdale Downtown Rotary Club.

Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz is hosting her annual Academy Day on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11 a.m.  We are holding the event at Nova High School in Davie.

We will have current cadets from each of the Academies speak to the students about Academy life.

Please post this flyer at your schools, hand them out to all students interested in the Academies and give them to JROTC instructors.

We welcome students in 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade to attend our meeting.

Miss Broward County Scholarship Pageant - Pageant Schedule

Here is the tentative schedule.  Save the dates!    Locations will be published shortly.
September 8     Orientation (Mandatory for all contestants)
September 22   Judges Workshop
October 6          Evening wear Workshop & Deadlines

 October 20       Interview Workshop
 October 27        Rehearsal / (Preliminary - if necessary)
 November 3      Pageant day

 All workshops and orientation sessions begin at 1:00 pm.  

Rehearsal and Pageant Day schedules will be finalized in October.  They are potentially all day events.

If you have not attended an orientation session before, there is a $5.00 fee to cover the cost of printed materials.   You must RSVP in order to have an orientation packet printed for you.

The judges workshop is open to anyone who whould like detailed information about the Miss America judging process.  After completion of the workshop, adult attendees are added to the Florida list of Certified Miss America judges.  The cost is $30.00.  Your RSVP and pre-payment are required.
