Eligibility Criteria:
Seniors planning to attend Florida State University, Florida A&M University, University of
Florida, or Florida Gulf Coast University are awarded scholarships in the form of rentfree
housing to live in one of twenty-five, furnished scholarship houses that are adjacent to
their college campus; Financial Need — must send a copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR);
Minimum GPA 3.0 (unweighted); Essay of 500-750 words; Letters of recommendation (3)
(addressed to the President of the Southern Scholarship Foundation); Community
involvement; Motivation, demonstrated through the awards and activities list submitted by
all applicants; Acceptance to University — must have a copy of the official acceptance
letter from FSU, UF, FAMU, or FGCU; Completed honors and activity list; Photograph.
